The World Science Festival is an annual celebration of science that brings together great minds in science, business, government, and the arts. The inaugural World Science Festival in 2008 attracted over 120,000 people to the 44 events located throughout New York City. FHI's Nick Bostrom has been invited to participate in two events at this year's Festival:
Friday, 12 June – Cast members from Battlestar Galactica join leading roboticists to explore scientifically, philosophically, and ethically the approaching frontier where intelligent machines are commonplace and cybernetic technology enhances human capabilities.
Saturday, 13 June - The multiverse hypothesis, suggesting that our universe is but one of perhaps infinitely many, speaks to the very nature of reality. Nick Bostrom joins physicist Brian Greene, Nobel Laureate David Gross and cosmologist Andrei Linde as they discuss and debate this controversial implication of forefront research and explore its potential for redefining the cosmic order. http://www.worldsciencefestival.com/
