Ben Garfinkel’s research concerns the security implications of artificial intelligence, trends in international peace and conflict, and the methodological challenge of forecasting and reducing technological risks. He is also the Acting Director of the Centre for the Governance of AI, a research and field-building organisation focused on the risks and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence.
Ben earned a degree in Physics and in Mathematics and Philosophy from Yale University, before deciding to study for a DPhil in International Relations at the University of Oxford. He has a strong belief in the value of cross-disciplinary learning and collaboration.
