Cassidy is a Research Scholar at the Future of Humanity Institute and a DPhil candidate at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor Michael Bonsall. Her research centres on global catastrophic biological risks and the threats posed by advanced biotechnology, with a focus on answering fundamental questions about novel pathogens with pandemic potential.

Cassidy is a qualified doctor in Australia and has previously worked in hospital and laboratory-based medicine, human biosecurity and communicable disease public health. She completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience and Developmental Biology and her Medical degree at the University of Queensland, and holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Melbourne.
