Today Dr. Stuart Armstrong lauded Google’s decision to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) ethics board following their acquisition of DeepMind.  It is a positive step forward, addressing the risks associated with continuing improvements in AI.  Dr. Armstrong also expressed concern about the possible short term impacts of AI in the future.  In particular, the possibility of rapid job loss and effective mass surveillance.  For a summary article, see here.  For the full audio, see here (at time 02:23.04).
