In the past, technological innovation has increased long run employment. Will this pattern hold in the future? The Economist has featured Carl Frey and Mike Osborne’s paper on automation and unemployment in the January 18th print edition.
It cites Frey and Osborne’s estimate that 47% of jobs are at high risk of automation, and urges policymakers to give more attention to this pressing issue.
